Meet
Bamboo, the Exploration Station®'s cuddly panda mascot. This
cuddly panda bear is a favorite of area children. Not only does Bamboo
visit the children's museum, but he also attends all kinds of events
in the area. He is famous for showing up at schools, parties, parades,
festivals, concerts, and fairs. You may call the Exploration Station®
at 933-9905 and schedule Bamboo for a visit.
Bamboo
is cuddly and fun to hug, and he is the Exploration Station®'s
mascot thanks to area children. In October 1989, the Exploration
Station®...a children's museum let area school children choose
a mascot from several photographs of animals. The panda won, and
a friend was born.
Archit Shah, 11, of Bourbonnais, submitted the winning name of Bamboo.
Then a seventh-grader at Bourbonnais Upper Grade Center, Archit received
a panda T-shirt as a prize.
Over fifteen years
later, Bamboo is still the children's favorite cuddly pal. Wherever
he goes, it is certain that little children will flock to him for
hugs. Bamboo loves to play, dance, and start games of follow-the-leader
and "Bamboo Says".
Although he is
mischievous, Bamboo also cares for his young friends. He makes special
visits to area hospitals, visiting, playing and bringing balloons
and other gifts to the children there. It is no surprise that the
children love him so much. Exploration Station®...a children's
museum is proud to be the home of this zany panda bear!
